Where Should I Place My Quilt Label?
We find that the easiest way to attach your label is before you get to the stage of sewing up the bottom of your quilt. This means that as soon as you have finished machine stitching the top of your quilt, you'll need to place your label on any corner of the back of the quilt (we tend to choose the lower left side). Next, line-up the label with the quilt edge and simply pin in place ready to be sewn.
What Can I Include On A Quilt Label?
Your personalised quilt label is ideal for sharing details about how the quilt was made, who the quilt-maker is, and any other historical or care information that may be helpful to its new owners. Custom quilt labels are really versatile since you can pretty much include any kind of information, but here are some examples:
- Name of quilt maker
- Name or title of quilt
- Details about the design
- When the quilt was made
- Where the quilt was made
- Name of recipient for that quilt
- Reason for creating the quilt
- A personal story or message
- Washing or care instructions
- and more!
How Can I Add A Fabric Label To A Finished Quilt?
If your quilt is already finished, don't worry, there's still time to add your custom label. Try attaching it along the hem at the back of the quilt or alternatively, in the corner. In terms of application, the most common method is to hand-stitch or machine stitch your label onto your quilt. Another great idea if you are using a triangular label is to attach it to the corner to form an extra pocket at the back of your quilt.
How Do I Make A Triangle Quilt Label?
It's really quite easy to make a triangle quilt label. Simply take a square label, fold diagonally down the middle to create a triangle, and then use this label in the corner of your quilt. Our custom woven labels are the ideal option to use as a triangle corner quilt label since they can be made in any custom shape and come in a range of different sizes. Simply let us know which shape or size you need and our team will be at the ready to help you create your custom request.
What Is The Best Size For A Quilt Label?
When choosing the size of a quilt label, it really comes down to your personal preference and how much information you want to include. At Dutch Label Shop, we suggest a 2.70" x 0.90" label as an ideal option, offering plenty of room for your custom details without overwhelming the quilt’s design.
If you're after something smaller, our most popular label size is 2.40" x 0.80". This compact option can accommodate 1 to 3 lines of text, giving you enough space for key information while keeping the label subtle and neat.
Dutch Label Shop also allows you to fully customise your label, with sizes available up to 7.85" x 7.85".
